And the countdown to the 1st day of school begins. The kids go back at assorted times this coming week. We spent last week running errands, getting school clothes and supplies. Back to school to me is the start of a new year more than New Year's Day. I guess all that fresh white paper waiting to be filled in, the chance to prove or re-prove yourself in the classroom represents starting over. Just like we make New Year's resolutions the kids always swear they're going to do their best this year, and mom's always swear they will stay on top of the homework and PTA meetings. We usually manage to meet up somewhere between complete chaos and Supermom.

We went to a last ballgame Monday, our guys lost, but we had a good time, and they did better later in the week. The rest of the week was spent in the usual places, Staples TJ Maxx, JC Penney, Michael's and Petsmart (I swear I'm not going back in there for another MONTH!) Those cats I wanted to adopt are STILL there, poor things. Our Baby Girl (the conure we adopted) is doing great, she finally spoke saying Where were you and she has accepted all of us, she's very willing to jump on any of us as we go by, but she's VERY spoiled, she wants to eat what we eat, and drink what we drink, and unless carefully monitored she'll stick her head right into our cups for a drink, or snatch food right off our plates! Today was the biggest breakthrough in pet bonding, she cuddled up on my lap and took a nap. I held my hands together like a little lean-to and she put her head up against them and closed her eyes. I never thought of birds as cuddly before, but she's quite lovable.

I haven't been feeling very well for a couple days, I don't know if it's the meds, (I don't think I've eaten enough when I took them) or if I really have a little stomach virus.

I plan to do some major clean-up AGAIN, this week. Oh it's not nearly as bad as it was, but with all the pet additions (oh we added yet another black moor to the tank) and Alex starting a million new arts and craft projects things are getting a little disheveled. For now I'm taking my tired little self to bed and getting some sleep.
